Quimby in the Sun
22″ x 22″
Hand-dyed shibori fabric, commercial cotton, tulle, raw edge applique, machine applique, eyes painted with textile paints,
free-motion quilting with rayon threads.
An image of my dear cat Quimby, who lived to the age of 19 1/2, enjoying the sun’s rays. This cat quilt hangs next to my husband’s home computer, as the two of them were very bonded. I love pet portraits in fabric. The batiks were perfect for Quimby’s swirly fur and the shadow beneath him.
