NY Botanical Garden
Loved this screen shot of the Weather Channel app's image for NYC!
Had to buy a hat. The sun was brutal, but fortunately the humidity was low.
Reflecting Pool
Waiting for the tram... A short ride around about 50% of the grounds is suggested as it gives you a good feel for what you'll see, and where you may want to explore in depth.
You can get off the tram at any stop and get back on another one later. Great rock formations can be seen throughout the very hilly gardens.
Some sort of unusual drooping short needled conifer
Sneak peek at the rose garden. Had to get off the tram and explore it in depth!
A visitor to the rose garden, despite them having small mesh wire fencing around the base of the main fencing!
These roses were almost phlox-like
Heading out of the rose garden toward the center of the garden
Great bark on this tree! Any guesses as to what kind it is? Wish I'd noted the tag.
The footbridge over the Bronx River, which runs through the park, and which is basically a large creek when a heavy rain hasn't hit.
Entering the native plant garden
Thought this was cute, as we have so many chipmunks in our own yard, I've worried that their tunnels were "perforating" the gardens too much!
Loved the "stems" of these ferns, very unusual.
Headed toward the huge old conservatory...
A glimpse of the top of it...
Perennial and herb gardens in front of the conservatory
Clematis
Lacecap hydrangea - the bees loved it. The bush was about 5' high x 8' wide. Huge, and lovely.
Heading up the steps into the conservatory

These purple creatures were some sort of tropical tree's "flower"
Lovely waterlilies in an enclosed water garden
Most of the conservatory space was devoted to tropical plants, which are lovely but not really my taste. It was nice to come across one room of summer-blooming perennials. Bold colors on this side...
