Based on a photograph I took of a New Hope, PA colonial house’s window box full of flowers, with dappled light hitting the siding and old glass. This art quilt is what I consider “watercoloring with fabrics,” letting the commercial batiks be my palette, allowing their mottled values to act as the light. Here’s a closeup of the machine quilting. I used a very loose style of quilting around the flowers, to simulate a watercolor image with pen-and-ink over it.
