Copper Beech Abstract
17″ x 21″
Background panels are hand-painted fabric (Setacolor).
Photograph of a massive old copper beech tree, taken by the artist in Morristown, NJ, printed on fabric.
I love trees of all kinds, but especially massive, ancient, old growth trees. Beeches grow slowly and they say if you plant one at a young age, you won’t live to see it mature that large, they grow that slowly. This tree must be hundreds of years old. The elephant-like bark, smooth and gray, is appealing and the lines of the branches in this particular tree were so perfect. I thought I’d combine the photo on fabric with some hand painted fabric to extend the image.
