Hand-painted fabrics, commercial batik, machine pieced and free-motion quilted.
After creating my “Birch Grove 1” tree quilt and instantly selling it to another art quilter friend of mine, I wanted to try to recreate the same effect and create a much larger quilt for an upcoming gallery show. The tree trunks are entirely hand-painted on white 100% cotton PFD fabric. I used mostly a dry brush effect with acrylics and fabric paint, and emphasized the birch tree markings with stitching. I’m honored to have this quilt in the Del Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection!
