Based on many photographs I took of the wonderfully colored marsh grasses that are prevalent in the channels between the mainland and Chincoteague Island, and between Chincoteague and Assateague Islands. Although I visited the area in mid-summer, the grasses were shades of lime green, pepper green, and golden brown. Assateague is a wonderful wildlife refuge, thousands of acres in size, and is a stopping ground for hundreds of species of migratory birds. At any given moment, you can spot hundreds of birds. I was fortunate to have spotted and photographed the first 2 bald eagles I’ve ever seen during this trip. The colors in this art quilt were made possible by some gorgeous hand-dyed fabric that purchased.
